Background
Kat was born to parents Darrell and Julie Parsons in one of Europe’s most prominent musical cities, Vienna. Her father was an esteemed opera singer in the Vienna Opera House. He recorded with the Clemencie Consort for Harmonia Mundi and is the featured tenor on a Philips release of Mozart's "Mass." Her mother is a professional pianist and singer and released a solo album in Europe in the mid-50s. She also recorded and released an album and dance single with her band Foxx Fire. Kat's entire extended family are musicians, her father's side coming from a deep blue- grass tradition and her mother’s side from a jazz tradition. Raised in Maryland, Kat sang with her parents and brother. Jon.
”l started pretty early as both a performer and an entrepreneur - used to tap dance in front of our window at night so I could check myself out - dressed up in all of my mom's rock clothes - fishnets, zebra patterns, huge earrings and made up dances (to her songs) with my friends that we charged neighbours to come see the shows would be five minutes, the curtain call ten Today, the one-woman indie* musical dynamo known as Kat Parsons has been in non-stop motion, her career blossoming. ”| hope that people will be able to find themselves or a piece of a relationship they’ve been in, and be able to recognize themselves in the songs."
Her CD, No Will Power, has a spectacular strength of artistic conviction. The album was chosen by the popular independent music website, CD Baby, as the ”Front Page Editors Pick." with the comment: No Will Power is one of the best I’ve ever heard !" Parsons has been making the rounds of TV stations in USA. Calling to mind Carole King, her many awards of performance and songwriting recognition include victory as top winner in Acoustic Live, from a field of over 500 of the most talented performers in Southern California and runner·up for "Album of the Year" at the 2005 DIY Music Festival.
